The Sands Academy's mission is to meet the individual needs of its students through thematically-based, developmental curriculum and explicit skill instruction. The supportive learning environment fosters academic success and emotional well-being.
The Sands Academy, an elementary school established to provide early identification and intervention for the purpose of addressing the needs of children at risk for reading and language delays, opened its doors in September 2007. As a sister school of The Norman Howard School, (which serves students with learning disabilities), The Sands Academy’s intent is to provide a rich program for students in grades K-3 with the specific skills and strategies, particularly in reading and language skill development – ultimately improving self-esteem, academic achievement and lifelong success.
